Honolulu Community College, located in the heart of Honolulu, offers a wide array of academic programs. Students can choose from 27 different degrees and 39 different academic certificates from 24 programs that include, along with liberal arts, a broad range of career and technical education.
The Early Childhood Education program at Honolulu Community College is designed for people interested in working with young children. There are two different focuses for this program: Infants and Toddlers and Preschool age children. Both programs prepare students through class assignments and field experience (practicum), both on campus and in the community.

The Electrical Maintenance and Installation Technology Program at Honolulu Community College. This program is all-inclusive, fulfilling the requirements for entry level positions in the electrical field; provides technical knowledge needed as well as the necessary hands-on skills that define self confidence and success. Emphasis is placed on wiring in accordance with the provisions contained in the National Electrical Code.
The Computing, Electronics, & Networking Technology at Honolulu Community College. This program prepares students for entry-level employment in the field of Information and Communications Technology. Core classes are designed to give students a firm foundation in the basics of computers, networking, and information systems.
The Small Vessel Fabrication and Repair Program at Honolulu Community College. This program offers training in fiberglass composites and tooling, woodworking, vessel refinishing, as well as the component systems found on most boats. Students learn through lecture and hands-on instruction the procedures used in fabricating, repairing and maintaining composite sail and powerboats. Composite boat construction, marine woodworking and joinery, marine blueprint reading and lofting, marine spray painting systems as well as boatyard operation skills (crane, forklift, straddle lift, hydraulic trailer) are just some of the subjects covered.
The Commercial Aviation program at Honolulu Community College. This is a five-semester program of study that prepares students for careers as a pilot, including charter and tour services, cargo and transport services, and flight instruction.
Honolulu Community College Carpentry Technology Class - Fall 2014 to Spring 2016 - Associate's Degree, 2-year program includes Carpentry Basics, Concrete Formwork, Rough Framing and Finish Carpentry. The only accredited degree program for carpentry on the island of Oahu.
The focus of this program, the only college level Fire Training program on O'ahu is on prevention and inspection; fire control; rescue and emergency medical and management and administration. The goal of this program is to teach students about essentials in the fire fighting profession and to meet the educational and promotional needs of the working professional.
The Sheet Metal and Plastics Technology Program at Honolulu Community College. This program is designed to provide entry level knowledge and hands-on skills required for employment in the sheet metal industry. Instruction includes fabricating, architectural metal work and pattern development.
The Aeronautics Maintenance Technology program at Honolulu Community College is designed to prepare individuals for Federal Aviation Administration certification as aircraft Airframe and Powerplant mechanics. Students in this program obtain knowledge and practical applications in such areas as hydraulics, sheet metal, electrical installation and troubleshooting, welding, the use of hand power tools, engine theory, troubleshooting and repair. The Aeronautics Maintenance Department is an approved aviation maintenance technician training facility operating under Federal Aviation Administration Air Agency with Airframe, Powerplant and combined Airframe and Powerplant ratings. It is the only such school in the Pacific Basin.
This well-designed program will teach students the basics of clothing construction, industrial sewing, pattern making, textiles, textile art, fashion sketching and design, computerized grading, and marker making. Students learn through both instructional theory and hands-on practical projects. Once students have mastered the fashion design and production techniques, they will advance to the high-tech equipment and software used in developing patterns. What Is Unique About The Program: 1. The Automotive Technology program at Honolulu Community College. The competencies the student is expected to achieve in the program are based on the tasks described by NATEF. Students will receive training in the following areas: automatic transmission/transaxle, brakes, electrical systems, engine performance, engine repair, heating and air conditioning, manual drive train and axles, and suspension and steering. The program has a Cooperative Education requirement.
The Communication Arts Program at Honolulu Community College. This program embraces three areas of study which are all interrelated: Design (visual solutions), Print (production skills for print media) and Multimedia (on-line publishing). All focus on meeting the ever-changing needs of business and industry and prepares students for entry level employment in graphic design, advertising design, desktop publishing, electronic imaging and prepress, on-line publishing, digital photography, and all aspects of the publishing and printing industries.
